India’s crowded, dirty, noisy, crazy — but we loved it! It’s a completely insane mishmash of dozens and dozens of cultures, traditions, celebrations, colors, and flavors. It’s like nothing else. You can find all our posts by clicking on the link below:

Our visit started in the southwest of the country (Kerala), and then we proceeded north to Delhi, Agra, and the Himalayan foothills. Here are a few maps of our travels through the country:

LESSONS LEARNED:

  • Driving in India is slow, to say the least. Plan on an average of 40 – 50 kph, so a 200 km trip = approximately 5 hours of driving time. Hiring a driver is the most expensive traveling cost in India, but everything else is incredibly cheap (food, lodging, etc.).
  • Don’t try to do too much. Cut back on your travel plans because getting around is difficult.
  • Book your train trips many weeks ahead of time. Trains sell out. Really!
